Continuing with the butterfly guard theme, I ran through some basics with Josh. Having been to that Dan Strauss seminar was very useful, as it was all fresh in my head. We talked about things like head forwards and bum back, being careful they can't bring your knees together, forehead into the chest to stop them grabbing a guillotine, along with keeping your hooks engaged. Doing some light resistance drilling on that was handy: I found that most of the time, I could use a grip on the head to break down the butterfly guard, so that's an area to think about. I could also generally get around to the side and crush the leg in, because I think people naturally start to bring their knee slightly inwards.
