I went to Antalya in 2009: it has the same winning combination of sunshine and history, which is ideal for my gf and I. ;)

I also really liked Amsterdam when I went there a couple of years ago, though my gf was rather less keen (not exactly a sunshine destination, particularly in December). Wonderful art galleries: I'd like to go back and do a day trip to Haarlem to check out the Franz Hals collection there.

I haven't been to Dublin, but heard good things about it (my gf went a while back). The main place I've been in Wales is Aberystwyth, which is great if you like dramatic scenery. Naturally it has a castle too, though mostly in ruins. I've popped along to various other castles in the area, like Harlech, hence why I recommend it (unlike Aberystwyth, Harlech Castle is well preserved). Edward I built loads of them in Wales during the 13th century.

Knee still not sorted yet, but it does feel a little less sore going down stairs now, which is good. I'm hoping it will be fully recovered in the next month or so, but we'll see.

@Megan: Would be very cool if you did! :Dslideyfoothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05374174757753962274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19359626.post-18780068541739568982011-02-25T23:57:44.783+00:002011-02-25T23:57:44.783+00:00Gorgeous...adding it to the list of places to go. ...Gorgeous...adding it to the list of places to go. I like your references to Turkey, as I have visited Antalya, Turkey. I love the Turkish coffee, food, and people.
-Wales? Sounds like a good place to visit. I have been bitten by the travel bug lately. Your post made me even more anxious to travel. ;) I'm looking to make a trip later this year. I was thinking of Dublin, but I have an old friend in The Netherlands, that I want to see, as well. Then our school maybe doing a group trip to Brazil. I'm having trouble deciding.
-How's the knee? I do hope it's better.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19359626.post-51427798500233107922011-02-25T16:28:31.802+00:002011-02-25T16:28:31.802+00:00Thanks! The whole island was known as 'Fortress Malta' during WWII, so definitely a top place to go if you get excited about fortifications. :)

I'd also highly recommend Wales for that, as it has loads of awesome castles.slideyfoothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05374174757753962274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19359626.post-28239107658332789882011-02-25T16:23:51.169+00:002011-02-25T16:23:51.169+00:00Wow!!
