Teaching #605
Artemis BJJ (MYGYM Bristol), Can Sönmez, Bristol, UK - 07/12/2016

It was Ruth and Kirsty today, so I used the class to practice for what I was going to do downstairs. The Homer sweep went ok, but there was more confusion on the waiter sweep, which I'd practiced on Tuesday with Matt. The entry is the tricky part, making sure people know to get their shoulder right underneath. Also, on that initial entry, people often get confused about their arm. Some will leave it under that leg, which means they can't do the Homer sweep. I was wondering if that set them up for the waiter sweep, but then that's generally more difficult. The problem that often crops up their is the arm positioning, bringing the foot to the crook of the elbow.

Either way, this was super useful in terms of prepping for the class downstairs. I've taught deep half before, but it's been a while and people were confused last time. Having said that, when I taught deep half as part of a technical mount escape, then it went a lot better. Hence why I wanted to try out teaching deep half this month, having attempted to prepare the ground with that technical mount escape entry last month.
