Class #872
Artemis BJJ (MYGYM Bristol), Can Sönmez, Bristol, UK - 08/08/2017

Going through the whizzer counters with Matt H was useful, as he immediately recognised them as techniques that Lucas Leite uses. That also solved one of the issues I had with it, which was the awkwardness of getting your outside knee free. I was shooting it forward and bringing it round, which would be tricky in a sparring situation. Matt noted that Leite never does that, instead using the hook on their leg to lift it, enabling your leg to slide under. That's something I should practice next time, so I'll update my teaching notes on the lesson to remind me. ;)

We also ran through the half butterfly sweep, which I had been thinking of teaching, but it felt too easy to counter by driving your hips down. Until I'm confident on how to react to that, I'll leave it on the backburner. Switching to closed guard recovering kinda worked, but I'll need to keep playing with it, do that more in sparring.
