Today was useful prep for the kimura hug I want to teach tomorrow. Two details in particular are worth emphasising: walking the elbows out to sufficiently stretch their shoulder appears to make a big different. Secondly, to avoid that nasty forearm pain compliance submission, if the person being submitted makes sure the thumb of the hand they're gripping with is horizontal, that seems to stop the pressure being so unpleasant. Also, it's important to really pin that shoulder, or they can relieve the pressure from the submission and resist.
I did a brief bit of butterfly with Josh at end, which is always fun. Also, Tracey shared Donal's tip on guard cross-choke, showing how he presses wrist into neck, that motorcycle revving motion. I prefer a deep grip choke, but both work off a similar principle. I find placement tricky with the wrist-press version, hence I find the latter easier.
