Another long cycle up to Clifton, working through some more guard recovery. I practiced both the basic one, along with the sitting guard type variation I saw on Xande's DVD set from a few years back. There is video, I just need to upload it. Also got in some half guard sparring with Josh, where the main thing that came out of it was the need to quickly switch my grip if they wriggle their head past the initial stiff arm block, pushing into their head instead.

It felt a number of times like it wasn't that difficult for Josh to collapse my posture, so I need to dig into that and work out if my arm is not in the right spot, or perhaps I'm not adjusting correctly to maintain the strong posture. I'll keep playing with it, especially as it feels like this is one I can do relatively safely around my knee injury. Saying that, I have to be discipline, as I tried bridging with that flat bridge sweep type thing, which put a little bit of strain on the knee. Must resist the temptation. ;)
