20/06/2019 - Thursday daytime, deep half guard basics

Class #1160
Artemis BJJ (Easton Road), Can Sönmez, Bristol, UK - 20/06/2019

Thursday is my random lesson, as unlike Tuesday and Friday I'm not prepping for anything. Sometimes I'll pick a video that looked interesting and try that, today I decided to skip ahead in my current planned schedule to half guard month. I'm intending to do some more deep half, as I haven't taught that in a while. The entry from standard half into deep half tends to cause people trouble, but I thought I'd give that one an early go (as I'll be practising it again next month, as that's when I'll teach it in an evening class).

Main thing, when you reach under grab the far leg, not the one you'd intuitively think to grab. That seems to help with the motion. Grabbing the near leg feels natural, but apparently makes this technique tougher. Possibly makes sense for some deep half variations, I need to explore that more.
