21/02/2017 - Open Mat (Tuesday)

Class #804
Artemis BJJ (MYGYM Bristol), Can Sönmez, Bristol, UK - -21/02/2017

Another good session of sparring, switching between Matt, Heidi and I. My open guard continued along the same lines, with the main successful attack I have being that opportunistic ankle pick sweep. It would be good if I could find a way of making that less opportunistic, somehow getting them to put their weight backwards so I can go for the foot. With somebody good like Matt, it's much tougher to push him back and forth with the tripod and sickle combination, as he soon moves into that strong over-under pass he's been working on for a while now. More framing perhaps, I don't do that as much as I should because it's tiring. I get lazy in sparring all the time, which is also why I do the running man survival posture under side control so often. Unfortunately, it's tough to be lazy in open guard. ;)
